It Figures Tax Services Inc was established in 2003 by Scott Alving. Scott is an Enrolled Agent* and graduated college with a BS in Accounting and Management. He has worked with a wide variety of clients such as landscapers, restaurants, contractors, dental & medical office, attorneys, churches/non-profits, and more.
During and after college, he helped his parents run their restaurant.
Prior to opening It Figures Tax Services, Scott held positions as a staff accountant and controller for a BioTech company, utility management company, and a manufacturing plant. From 2003-2008, he opened, owned and operated a retail store. That venture provided him with hands-on experience with operating a small business and in turn uses that in-depth experience to help his clients run their business.
Scott spends about 50 hours a year attending various conferences and round tables that keeps him on the “leading edge” of the ever-changing tax laws and various problems and techniques on helping business owners solving their business problems.
Local clients benefit from Scott’s compassion, out of the box thinking to problem-solving, great working relationship with other business owners and resources, and many years of experience as a small business owner.
He currently lives with his husband, two boys, 40 chickens and 2 cats in Stow. When not working, he enjoys reading, swimming, kickboxing, and anything outdoors.
An enrolled agent is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who is allowed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to help clients at all administrative levels of the IRS with audits, collections, and appeals. Scott offers Federal Tax services and assistance with Massachusetts state taxes as well as other states.
